What fabrics do we use to create personalized textiles?

At dothat, we prioritize quality materials that fully meet your requirements for custom textiles. Below, we present some types of fabrics we offer - each varying in composition, properties, and available colors.

Wool

Wool is by far the warmest material used in dothat textiles. Its excellent thermal properties make it an ideal fabric for winter hats, scarves, and blankets. In our standard offer, you’ll find two types of wool - classic lamb wool and merino wool.

What is special about wool?

  • Wool allows the skin to breathe, helping to regulate body temperature and prevent overheating.
  • It naturally wicks away moisture and retains warmth, making it perfect for winter clothing.
  • Wool is resilient and elastic, ensuring that dothat woollen textiles maintain their shape even with stretching.
  • Unlike synthetic materials, wool allows air to circulate and does not absorb unpleasant odours, reducing the need for frequent washing.
  • When used according to recommendations, dothat woollen textiles are highly durable and can last many years.

What should you keep in mind?

  • Wool can shrink during washing, especially in hot water, or not properly cared for.
  • It is one of the most expensive materials.
  • Tends can be heavier compared to cotton and synthetic alternatives.
  • Improper care can lead to felting.
  • Woll may cause allergies, irritation, or itching for some individuals.

What is the difference between classic lambswool and merino wool?

  • Origin: Merino wool comes from Merino sheep, and despite sharing many characteristics, it differs from traditional sheep's wool.

  • Softness and delicacy: The most significant difference is the exceptional softness and delicacy of Merino wool.

  • Lightness: Merino wool is much lighter while still maintaining thermoregulatory properties.

  • Durability: The delicacy of Merino wool is associated with its lower durability compared to traditional sheep's wool.

Cotton

Cotton, as popular as acrylic, is a natural material particularly valued for its softness, breathability, and moisture-absorbing properties, while also relatively inexpensive compared to materials like wool. At dothat, cotton is used in knitwear products and personalized T-shirt production. In addition to 100% cotton, we use a blend of cotton and acrylic in dothat products.

What is special about cotton

  • The natural fibres of cotton allow for the free flow of air.
  • Cotton absorbs moisture, ensuring comfort even on warmer days.
  • Compared to other natural fibres, cotton is easier to care for.
  • Cotton is durable, especially when combined with other materials.

What should you keep in mind?

  • It is prone to shrinking during washing.
  • With prolonged use, it may slightly stretch and lose its shape.
  • Over time and with frequent washing, the color of cotton may fade.

Cotton with acrylic - discover the advantages of this blend

  • Durability: Thanks to adding acrylic, cotton becomes much more resistant to unwanted stretching and deformation.
  • Color retention: The material retains its color for a longer time.
  • Softness: Acrylic adds extra softness.
  • Preservation of properties: Despite being combined with acrylic, the material does not lose the benefits of cotton.

Acrylic

Acrylic is one of the most popular fabrics on the market. Its biggest advantage is its low price, but it also has other benefits over natural fabrics.

What is special about acrylic

  • Resistant to deformation and stretching.
  • Moths, Mildew and insects do not attack Acrylic.
  • Can be machine washed without any issues.
  • Acrylic is easy to clean and dries quickly.
  • The color of acrylic fibres remains vibrant even after washing or exposure to sunlight.

What should you keep in mind?

  • Lack of air permeability - the acrylic does not breathe.
  • Acrylic absorption of unpleasant odors.
  • Quick pilling.
  • Poor heat retention properties.

Acrylic with wool

The addition of wool to acrylic makes the fabric significantly warmer and more breathable, greatly enhancing wearing comfort.

Combining wool with acrylic creates a more durable material compared to 100% wool.

Acrylic with polyester

The combination of acrylic and polyester adds softness and a silky texture. Compared to natural fibres, polyester and acrylic are incredibly lightweight. The material is more resistant to mechanical damage and pilling.

Yarns combining acrylic and polyester can have a richer color palette.
